10. Focus. The list should be focused - you don't want to bite off more than you can chew. Things like the top ten weapons, baddies, and cosplayers never get old, just keep in mind that the goal is to find a topic you can write ten things about in 20 minutes or less. Like this one.

9. The Gamut. The list should cover retro games as well as newer IP. This way, older gamers have something to feel superior and nostalgic about while younger gamers find something relevant to them, like the Wii.

8. A picture is worth 1000 words or less. Be sure to include pictures. This shows that you are compassionate towards the illiterate, and those so lazy they like things in bullet points.

7. Inclusion. Include something ridiculous, controversial and outright flame-y. Nothing is too low, go for something that will really make readers pee themselves in rage.

6. Omission. it's important to leave out something incredibly obvious and/or popular. This gives readers something to feel self righteous about.

5. Useless. Avoid quantifiable evaluation or comparison. It also helps if the content isn't valuable in any decision making process.

4. Reduce, reuse and recycle. Content doesn't have to be original, nobody remembers these lists anyway.

3. Boobs. It never hurts.

2. Counting is for losers. You know what's fun? When a top ten list is so sassy they only have nine items, because they don't need to play by anyone's rules, especially when it means less work.

1. Gotcha.
