With the slew of new systems and new games coming this year it would be hard to imagine a game this great this soon. Red Faction comes at the perfect time. When the games are slow and E3 is running rampant, gamers are left out to dry with nothing new to play. In comes Red Faction a game that sets standards for the first person genre. Enough rambling, enjoy this!

Imagine Half-Life with many, many more polygons. Character models are great and the levels are very diverse. The frame rate only suffers from time to time when there is a TON of action on the screen. The coolest part of Red Faction is the Geo-Mod technology. This is a new type of game engine that allows nearly anything on screen to be destroyed. This makes for some interesting puzzle solving and multi-player craziness.

The music in the game is great, just check out some of the samples from the MP3 downloads located in the bottom right hand corner of the review. The voices are well done and the ambience is just down right creepy. Character talk and seem to have feelings even if they are not a main character in the game.

I know a lot of people complain that you can not play a first person shooter with a PS2 controller, but I disagree. Give it a little play time and you will find it quite comfortable, I actually like it. Red Faction is your typical design, similar to Quake 3 and Time Splitters before it. Nothing revolutionary but it gets the job done.

This game is great from beginning to end. A non-stop action game with a hell of a story. Lots of fast paced intensity and a plot that keeps you coming back for more! I played this game for 8 hours straight and still wanna play more. Great multi-player and one of the best single-player experiences of all time.
