Well another day another dollar I guess tonight I am reviewing Splashdown from Infogrames/Atari and I must say that at first this game was kinda eh to me. I mean I am a huge fan of Wave Race but when in history has anything ever come close to it's glory? Never, exactly! So why is this game getting such a high score?

Well to start off this game offers something most racing games lack these days...any guesses what that is?? Fun factor dammit, this game is just plain fucking fun! Don't get me wrong I still love my Wave Race, that game is a classic, but this game brings so many new things to the table I can't help but love it.

First off the characters have style, you got everything from cute little girls that scream the sweetest groans of agony when falling off their crafts to big whiny men who cry with the best of them! All kidding aside the character are more than just faces plastered on a model for looks they got some class!

Graphically this game is completely and utterly off the fucking hook. I mean the water effects are to die for, you can see through the water as well as reflections in the water very nice. Also the water is so photo realistic I can practically smell it on my TV set. The waves are very nicely done even making ripples when your rider goes over them, the only minor complaint is that the waves your rider makes have no effect on the other riders so it isn't 100% interactive.

Another interesting fact about this game is that it is designed by the same team behind ATV Off Road Fury and Motorcross Madness series. Which means that the engine is smokin'. Fun factor crawls from Rainbow Studios' titles, they can manage to take the most obscure sport and make it a damn fun game.

Overall I highly recommend this game if you are a big fan of Wave Race. This could be the new king of water sports so watch out Nintendo. Grab yourself a copy of Splashdown and prepare to get wet baby...oooh I liked the sound of that!
