For twenty years one question has been on the minds of John Carpenter fans everywhere. What survived that horrible event?  The Thing boasts an all-star line-up of voice and producing talent everyone from the original director of the film to the cigarette smoking man from the X-FILES has had a hand in this. They even have a song from the hit making group Saliva. With talent behind a game like that is it worth the purchase. Lets find out.

You start the game out right where the movie left off, and boy did it apparently leave a lot of questions. I say apparently because I haven't seen the movie in probably ten years. I remember it kickin-ass but not this much ass. After I saw my first THING which was in baby form I had flashbacks of when I played Resident Evil for the first time. Only now the voice acting is a billion times better.

The intro shows somebody being ripped to shreds and the demo movie shows like an awesome movie trailer and leaves you asking for so much more. This game is not for the average gamer. I myself stumbled across points where I was like "what the fuck do I do now". I ran around trying to find something to kill. In the first two hours I killed only one THING, and it was a baby.

The graphics sometimes leave a lot to be desired. Please keep in mind that the XBox is expecting a version of it's own and this is the PS2, so I'm not bitching just stating. They are on par or above everything else on the system. The sound is spectacular and I just had the TV on. The bad side is that the game does not support Dolby period. The control also sometimes leaves you wanting more innovation. Borrowing from games like EXTERMINATION, RAINBOW SIX, and RESIDENT EVIL, the controls have taken a bit to get used to.

All in all I think that this title is more than worth the cash. Especially if you don't have a cube and want to play a new survival horror game. This has brought back the feelings that used to give me nightmares like the first RE did. I love that feeling.
